I'm Gilles Gravier. I'm French.
I work for Sun Microsystems, in Switzerland, and (though we have yet to
go through the administrative process) hopefully at Oracle soon. :)

I've been in security for the last 20 years, 15 of which at Sun. I work
in our global public sector team as a solutions architect.

Been involved in lobbies around cryptography, DRM, open standards. I
was part of the small team that convinced the French government to
liberalize crypto in 1998, which in turn drove the Wassenaar agreements
putting crypto in the dual use goods category... and then the US
companies started lobbying their government to enable them to export
crypto since Europe had turned suddenly into a very nice, prosperous,
yet inaccessible market for crypto products.
Cheers,
