Tom,

Excellent comments below!  Where data warehouse is concerned, I am happy to
give anyone a Phase 1.0 education data warehouse data model.  This model was
created by Maurice Frank who created the data model behind the IBM Insight
at School education data warehouse offering.  Maurice worked with and was a
student of Ralph Kimball, often called the father of data warehouse along
with Bill Inmon.  I am happy to put this model into the public domain as
well.

For those who are interested in doing some development, I have a database
with 5 years of large school district data which has been cleansed.  I have
done previous work to populate this database using the Pentaho ETL tool and
have done reporting using the BIRT reporting tool that is part of the
Eclipse toolkit.  I believe that I still have all of that intellectual
capital if somebody wants to organize and effort around it.

I have a vested interest in education data warehouse as I managed the IBM
Insight at School solution for a few years and have done education DW
districts from 10,000 student school districts in Indiana to state level
data warehouse projects.

For those of you who have contacts inside the beltway, this could be a
beginning to a free nationwide data warehouse offering that all schools
could use that could roll up to a national solution allowing us to better
understand what is really happening in education.  If any of you are
interested, let me know.  Thanks.
